Overhaul WTF just happened

Description
This crazy rendition of the Oilers roster, is one where over the course of the trade deadline and one summer, i try to get rid of all the excess money. with that excess try to build something more competent. Lucic and Koskinen are staying, Lucic to hard to move, and I don't know why I'm not moving Koskinen, arbitrary decision I guess.

Spooner trade, gets a cheap defensemen and a pick, sheds salary of a guy playing in the minors

Talbot (50% retained) for Volkov and a 4th. Tampa upgrades its backup goalie for the rest of the season and their playoff push, Oilers get assets, whereas they would've lost him for nothing in FA.

Puljujarvi, Benning, and 1st for Pesce and Ferland. Upgrade our D and F, while giving up on Puljujarvi (Which hurst) and a 1st. as Pete would say, it's the price you have to pay.

Chiasson for a pick, collect some futures for a hot streak.

Up until now are all deadline moves.

now for the summer moves in this weird experiment.

Trade Kris Russell to Arizona, the have lot's of cap space and can utilize Russell because he is still a decent player, we send Safin over for Arizona taking on the Russell contract.

Manning to Ott, with Lagesson to dump cap. we are going all out on cap clearing, full rebuild one weird unrealistic summer

Kassian for Salomaki, Preds have some cap space add a big body for a good push towards the cup while their window is open, Oilers get a 4th line guy who doesn't cost a lot, so they can go big game hunting

Brodziak for Boyd, Washington desperately needs help in the face-off dot, Oilers save some money, get a bit more scoring

Now with a bunch of Cap Space, what kind of damage will we do in Free Agency

Sign Mark Stone and Jordan Eberle. are these contracts at all realistic? probably not, but none of this has been so...

Eberle comes back at a reduced price but will put up numbers alongside Nuge in a second line role. Stone will put up big points with Connor and Leon, this line looks terrifying to me. (Had a request to sign Stone while making this, so I fit it in lol).

Duclair is low risk, could pay off (Not likely but it could), for a third line i'm ok with this.

Overall I think the defence is better, the bottom 3 guys I think can handle 3rd pairing duties on a rotating basis. Offence is much improved, Lucic contract still hurts, bottom 6 still sucks, top 6 looks real good to me (Although Ferland will most likely be an overpay, but any team that signs him this summer will overpay.

Goaltending is very very suspect, hopefully this team can score. also Ullmark may get more than this, and Buffalo would probably match but we'll keep quiet about that for now, give up a 3rd round pick as compensation

was weird and pointless to do this, but I had fun so that's what counts I guess

You just traded a guy who was such a disgrace that he was waived plus a fourth round pick for a guy that has analytically been the Islanders best defenseman and a third. HOLY YIKES

if we are being honest, I know pretty much nothing about Toews. Based on your comment looks like a big miss step lol. Pretty much nothing here makes a lot of sense though so I'll leave it at that

Spooner trade is quite optimistic.

As for the signings:
Jujhar gets more than $800k for sure. Probably double that.
Stone will get 9+
Talbot will get more
Duclair will get more

But I mean I'll take it

It's a very good team. I don't know that Brodziak for Boyd happens straight up. Maybe Brodziak and Maksimov for Boyd and Kammerer, though.
