I see. If so, where would you deal Vlasic then? What kind of package would you think he would acquire elsewhere?

this isn't it chief.

1. Karlsson doesn't sign for less than $11M AAV, let alone $10M AAV
2. Pavelski will sign a 3-year deal (though you were right on AAV)
3. Sheahan/Edler do not tip the scale and are a waste of money
4. BOS deal is crazy. Vlasic probably won't waive either but if he did, a deal for Krug would be it. Package Vlasic and LaBanc's rights for Krug and a 2nd-rd pick.

Vlasic plus Labanc's rights for Krug and 2nd rd pick at the draft?

@DOTFAM thank you for your input! Was not exactly sure where the value was on Vlasic, much appreciated!

I like Vlassic a lot but that contract is ridiculous, wont be getting moved anywhere

Krug will probably want similar term and more per year (probably somewhere between 8-9M AAV) so the question then is whether an undersized Dman in Torey Krug the answer on D or does Vlasic fit the need? Throwing in Labanc I think makes this a no-brainer for the Bruins if they are concerned about a contract like Vlasic's

I like Lebanc a lot, the $ value isnt really the big issue, its that the contract will pay him 7 mill him till hes 38 tahts the huge problem. If vlassic had another 3 years at like 6 mill or so, i wouldnt be opposed to it

So will Krug's eventual extension though. He'll be signing it at age 29 and it will be an 8 yr deal, no?

@shmoeman I'm not disagreeing with you that the contract is bad though, totally get the apprehension. I'm just considering the case where Krug asks for 8 yrs and 64-72M total next summer. Would the Bruins rather a solid, rarely injured defensive stalwart making 7M annually until age 38 or an undersized, offensive-first Dman making 8M plus until age 37?

My thinking is that Krug is gonna walk, dont know if Bruins will have cap for him and they have a ton of really good D already along with a lot of good prospects

didnt the bruins kinda do a similar trade with Thornton? a star player for three "up and comers" this is basically the same thing but backwards lol. however you do make very valid points. and yes i am aware that debrusk is an esablished player

From the Sharks standpoint, Thornton was a young, 1st overall pick, you do anything to get a guy like that (obviously underpaid a ton but whatever) Vlassic isnt close to that
