Good moves and good signings, I actually like the idea of Marner on a bridge deal. But maybe a 2 year deal so he doesn't expire the same time as Reilly and Kadri. & the signings for Johnsson and Kapanen are extremely fair and realistical. Johnsson might be looking for a longer term deal, like 3-4 years though cause he took less this year to bet on himself and it paid off.

Things I'd change: Carolina is gonna want Kapanen for Pesce. Brown doesn't provide enough offence to be in Carolina's top 6 and that's what they need. They also won't take Zaitsev cause they need to make a spot on the right side for Adam Fox for next year. IMO, Kapanen and a 2nd gets Pesce pretty fairly. & I wouldn't be trading Johnsson. Leafs don't have many left handed, good shooting wingers in the system right now. Keep Johnsson, move Kapanen. Then Zaitsev can be moved in another deal. Vegas is a good fit for him though

Canes decline. Either Nylander or Kappy for one of their RHD. Marner is getting 10M+ as well.

On a 3 year bridge deal? No he doesn't. He only gets over $10M if he signs long term. The idea of a bridge deal for him is a real possibility tho

Canes probably don't bite for anything like this. IMO 1-for-1 with Kapanen is equally beneficial and painful for both sides and I'm not convinced I do it if I'm either team.

Waddell seems to have placed high price tags on all his guys...which is his right...and given how close the Hurricanes are to a wildcard spot...I'd ask for the moon too if you want to convince me (any my owner) to start closing up shop on the playoffs. If someone meets his asking price of a 1st for Ferland I'll be surprised,

If there is a deal to be had...I can't see Zaitsev being any part of it...regardless of his value. Pesce has been playing the left side with Fleury and Bean still looking for room to get playing time next year....plus they're going to try and convince Adam Fox to turn down his 4th year at Harvard to sign with them...that combined with their inability to score makes it an ideal situation for them to move Defence for Offence.

A lot of things would need to fall in to place...but if Fox doesn't sign...he'd be a very attractive guy to go after next year when the collegiate season is done...you'd think the leafs would be in position to offer him a top 4 D position (he'd have to earn it...but the opening would be there) while immediately joining a competitive team.

Any canes fans reading this thread...what would Adam Fox cost right now in a trade?
