My Oiler fan friends like it too. Rarely do you see a trade that works out so well for both teams. I would miss Subban for sure (I just bought his jersey) but it fixes issues.

As an Isles/hockey fan, this would be a very good trade for both teams involved I think.

Count me in as thinking it's a pretty fair deal as well. But man, Montreal's blueline is a LOT different without Subban.

Agreed, the swap of first overall picks benefits both teams also as 4th would like MTL Dubois or Tkachuk, and the 9th pick would land Chychrun.

I'd prefer Klefbom instead of Eberle because with that defense we'd have a hard time winning a playoff game.

Only other option is if we offer sheet'd a young RH dman and gave up some of those picks in the process.

As a habs fan I don't like the trade at all. We lose way more value than we gain. The only good thing this trade does for montreal is free up cap space.

With Subban, Plekanec and Eller gone, Price would have to stand not only on his head but on his pinkie.

Edmonton is the clear winner here. Eberle for Pleks is even money. But Nugent for Eller & Subban is all Edmonton. Trading 9th for 4th doesn't make up for the difference.
With Draisaitl and McDavid stepping in, Edm can afford to let Eberle and Nugent go in exchange for 3 great defensive and all around players who can score. No go for CH.

On the other hand, in their last 12 games, CH was 6-6 and that's without Price, Subban, Petry and Barberio and even Gallagher for a bit. We even beat Tampa twice. So yeah I think this trade
would benefit both teams, esp. Edmonton who needs the defense. If they can also get a goalie, they can contend next year for sure.
