I’m going with chaos theory...$9.5x5 puts serious strain on Bolts. Gonna have to trim roster significantly to make that work...also walks point right up to UFA.

Tampa will just trade Miller + Callahan + a prospect (to clear Callahan) and save up close to 11 million. Plus raises for McDonagh and Kucherov will be offset by Coburn and Girardi leaving

Next season JT Miller has a 8-team no trade clause that kicks in,and Callahan also has one (16 team). My guess is that most of the cap floor teams aren’t going to be on their lists.

My point (pun intended) is this amount & term creates a ton of headaches for TB...including figuring out how to find the money to sign Vasy the following offseason.

Tampa definitely matches that and figures it out. You don't let your best players walk to an offer sheet. One of the only offer sheets not matched was Dustin Penner. But he wasn't a superstar like Point. You would have to offer a lot more then that for Tampa not to match. Its the same with Marner and probably Rantanen with the Avs, you likely have to offer Matthews or McDavid money.
