this is most definitely a "win now" move. could be costly in the off season when trying to re-sign tkachuk and rittich who could command close to 10m between the 2 of them

If he wants Valimaki he would get him. He would get similar D from Jets or another team if Treveling doesnt pull the trigger.

kylington is still a very good consolation prize. he is still only 21 and has played 6 pro seasons! he is clearly ready for the nhl now as he has showed this year.
