smile Lol. Probably not, given age, but he does play a similar game to Barrie, with more term remaining. Barrie has been in all kinds of rumors. Moving on from that Calvert contract for a younger, more consisten offensive player in Burakovsky, I think would be their motivation if this happens.

Calvert=$3MDSP.
Good 4th liner, late 20s, decent on pk but not exceptional. Stepped up with some big playoff goals last Spring, including one where he was falling over. That literally describes both of them, so I'd rather the Caps keep the one with the $0 cap hit this year.
Love both players. Sakic probably wishes he could have that contract negotiation back.

Definitely not worth Burakovsky. Not even if we were crazy and on drugs.

Hope you're right. I think he's the type of guy this team needed. No more offense than Bowey, but a lot more experience, and he can eat more minutes. If that makes Niskanen and Carlson less overworked and more effective, he could be an unsung hero this year.

If he plays on a pair with Orlov, and gets some offense out of Orlov, too, it could turn out to be a really smart pickup.

I've been looking at him to replace Ron Hainsey on the Leafs.

Luckily, you've still got five or ten more years before that's an issue. smile

I seriously cannot believe this. I just posted a NY Islanders deal with Toronto in which Lamoriello got Kapanen and Zaitsev plus draft picks for Mayfield and a draft pick, which was the first step in creating a 2020 Maple Leafs roster with Jensen at $2.5M for four years to partner Rielly, Mayfield to partner Muzzin and Liljegren to partner Dermott, which brings Toronto in under $83M. I was going to post that construction later today. If McClellan had waited one day, I would have been a hero . . .
