Yes, the tax benefit is real, but it nowhere close to that degree.

Federal taxes are still way to high, so its not close to this much. At best you can get about a 13.3% benefit (from California to any non income tax state). Also players from other countries have to pay in their home country, so Americans are the only ones that really benefit. If we can keep electing the right people, we may one day have 0 federal income tax to, the way it should be.

I agree it should be fair, but it's not lol.

It's easy to understand why 1-2 mil can be accounted for in the tax benefit, and the cup favorite factor is only more incentive...

Looking at the ugly contracts on other teams, it's safe to say Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat would be paid more than 5m and 5.3m/yr.

Point will sign an offer sheet with someone else if you think he will sign for that. Karlsson and Stone contracts are laughable. Keep dreaming!

No chance Point takes extra money over staying with this cup favorite team... Karlsson would certainly match Hedman's contract, they're friends and want to play with each other. Stone may have a different attitude than the other two but taking a pay cut in the NHL isn't a new idea, it's common sense if you value winning more than money lmao.

41 STAT COMPARISON RESULTS: Stamkos wins 30, Tavares wins 8, and there's 3 ties....

What does that mean? It means Stamkos isn't only the better of the 2 players, he's also 2.5m cheaper on his team's cap and is STILL able to pocket MORE MONEY after taxes (5.39m), compared to Tavares' 11m Toronto cap hit (only pockets 5.15m)... So, is the tax benefit still a myth?! WAKE UP PEOPLE! Don't be salty if your team pays more for players than my team does lmaooo.

The players will not accept 2-4 million less to play in Tampa, keep dreaming! Donald Fehr would black ball the player and agent for accepting those deals. Would you accept less to stay where you work when you can make more elsewhere?

Lmao apples and oranges! If I could buy myself a Stanley Cup, I would. That's as close I'll get to debunking your "analogy" tears of joy ... If Tavares(11m) makes less than Stamkos(8.5m) after taxes, why do you still claim players make less in Tampa when I just proved they pocket more with LOWER CAP HITS.

Stamkos signed for 8.5 million so he could stay and finish his career with Tampa. Tavares will make a lot more than that with the endorsements in Toronto, which I'm sure you have no idea about. Point will get at least 8 million on his deal. If the player gets traded he will be pissed that he listened to you about taking less money because of the taxes. Think things through first!

LOL Endorsements are everywhere bud. If point gets a 5/6 yr deal, guarantee it's in the 6-7m range, 7.5m TOPS. I've thought everything thru... Compared stats, contracts, tax rates, cup contender factor... Wasn't hard to get my answer... Takes a little bit of thinking and effort to calculate, but if you don't wanna be realistic, have at it..
