I'm not a fan of the idea of buying out MacDonald unless you are spending to the cap.

He brings some depth value for 1 year and is easily buried so you're only saving $3 million by buying him out for 1 year and then costing yourself $2 million more the 2nd year. The buyout is just continuing the agony of Andy MacDonald.
