Those trades are BRUTAL. No chance in hell you trade Kadri, that's arguably the best contract on this team outside of Rielly Andersen.

Kapanen trade would be better if you took Matt Hunwick out of it. There is no part of me that ever wants to see Hunwick in a Leaf uniform again. EVER.

If we are trade Kadri and Kappy this summer, and end up with Zaitsev on our top pair, most of Leafs nation would be extremely disappointed.

You can trade Kadri if you get a top 4 RHD out of it. I like Kadri a lot, but flip him while his value is high, have Nylander play C, and promote Bracco into the top 9.

kind of agree, but Kadri is being traded for Junk here IMO and not even defensemen.

Teams aren't exactly going to lineup to help the Leafs out. Trading Kadri for a guy like Brett Pesce does nothing to sort out the cap mess, as ideal as it might be. Look back at the deals Chicago had to make, unfortunately they look a lot like these.

Marleau is the only Leaf that falls into Brian Bickell territory, and there isn't a chance Leafs can pull that off. I'd be surprised if Zaitsev was still on the Leafs next season. He's overpaid, and doesn't fit the Leafs plans, but he's still a RHD that can PK, and play 20 min. There's several teams around the league that could use that player, he'd probably be the 2nd best Sens dman next year for example. IMO he can be dealt for mid round pick, or a B prospect.

Kadri+ for Pesce, move Zaitsev and Brown (a given at this point) and the Leafs survive this summers cap crunch.

Your only hope is a team like Ottawa would take Zaitsev to hit the floor. Leaves a big hole in the defense, even though I'm not a Zaitsev fan. Also think Alex Nylander could develop similar to Kapanen in a comfortable environment, and Hunwick was a big Babcock guy. Not exactly what I want or hope for, but I certainly think it's feasible.
