pens will be up against the cap next season, i predict they'll move Maatta as he is the most valuable defender that the penguins WOULD move. no the pens are not buying out or trading JJ or Guddy so i think people should just come to terms with that........

don't have a lot of draft picks after that trade with Florida, GMJR seems to want to keep his first round pick so pens should get a decent prospect.
pens prospect pool is rather poor so i bet they go and try to sign the best college FA's and hope to get another ZAR. One Player in particular i'd love the pens to sign is Nico Sturm : a german born center playing for
& captain of clarkson univ... One of the best defensive Forwards and faceoff men in the NCAA, won the defensive forward of the year award last season, and is up there again to win it this year, with his defensive Prowess he could very well end up on the pens roster slotting in at 4C if he were to sign........ Speaking of NCAA two of the penguins most NHL ready prospects are playing in the NCAA, Kasper Björkqvist Providence College) a hard working, gritty forward, Nikita Pavlychev (Penn State) a 6'8 center, great skater for his size, plenty of grit and two way ability. Both could step into the bottom 6 as of next season if signed. no doubt they are close to NHL ready, which is the case for Most NCAA players......... i doubt penguins do much in free agency besides a depth signing, next years bottom i believe will be very youthful. Blueger has earned a spot, Dipauli could fight for a spot in the bottom 6, as can guys like Adam Johnson, Angello,, ect. will be interesting to see what the bottom 6 looks like next season

JR completely destroyed that defense. They could have spent $7 mill elsewhere, and actually have spent that on a true top 6 forward or true top 4 dman.

Seriously wtf has he been thinking the past couple years? This is one of the most expensive blue lines, but one of the worst as well. He couldve easily made cap room this offseason, but now he made it worse

definitely should have been spent better. Rutherford has been on the decline
