I would beware of signing donato to any sort of deal like that. He was hot as a pistol when the bruins called him up last year too, but after a half dozen games or so, he slowed down, and this year he was one of the worst nhl players I’ve ever seen, unless he had the puck on the power play. He has a ton of developing to do. I wouldn’t give him more than 2 years at 1.5 per

Funny, I'd love to see this dream come true. Thoughts on the roster?

True. I think it will largely depend on his play through the rest of the year. If he consistently plays as good as he has, then I could see a long-term deal in the works. A 2 year "prove it" deal is probably the best plan of action for him as well.

This isn’t a fans post trade dismissal of a prospect, but I never liked donato, and while I acknowledge he could turn into a 30 goal guy, I don’t think he’ll make it long term in the nhl. He’s just so weak off the puck. He has all the tools, but I question his desire to play a 200 foot game. He reminds me a lot of frank vatrano.

I’m with @Bcarlo25 here - Donato seems like the kind of player who will always need a carrot in front of his face to play hard. 2-3 year deal max.
Also, mark my words...in a year or two, the Wild will be very grateful they did not sign Karlsson...for the very same reason I want them to trade Spurgeon...the dreaded, inevitable AND imminent decline...

Interesting. He's been great in his own zone for us. He's not a shut-down guy but he certainly hasn't been a liability.

I like it a lot. That'd be the best top 4 in the league. Don't know much about Kase tho. I'll make a similar one in a sec

If they do sign him it's why I think he needs to play on the 2nd pairing under sheltered minutes. Play Dumba ~25 minutes per night while Karlsson gets 18-20 with Brodin to give him more longevity. I think both Karlsson and Spurgeon have at least 3-4 years of quality play left in them.

He strikes me (just a gut feeling) as a guy who likes to put it into cruise control after a a little success...I certainly hope I’m wrong!!

Kase is similar to Fiala but he's a right shot. Great hands, good speed, and nice shot.

If you are only going to play him 18-20 you are paying him WAY too much!

I agree but he's going to get a ton of money in free agency. I'd prefer to pay him $8-9M but there's going to be a team willing to pay him far more than that.

Ideally we'd give him a 5 year $8M deal, but I can't see any way he'd accept that.

I hope you’re right about the 3-4 years for both of them. The league is certainly better with them than without them! Heck, they might even have more than that in their tanks...however, both are so dependent on their skating that I can’t see them surviving once they lose 1/2 a step. It will happen...when...that’s the question anyone interested in them has to gamble on. Me...I bet on Mother Nature every time!

5/$8 is reasonable...but not a contract he’d ever sign, so...

For long stretches, like the vast majority of his time in boston he just looked disinterested in every puck battle. He looked timid unless it was a scoring opportunity. The talents there, but I question the determination on the ice

Would Love Karlsson on the Team him and Dumba on the Togather would be Awesome and one of the best Offensive Defense in the league I Wouldn’t mind trading Zucker for Kase he’s Right shot forward which we need I think good Trading Partners to get Zucker would be Vegas, Calgary, Carolina, Arizona And Philadelphia for the Secondry scoring
