you see me trading two players who can play in the NHL for 2 players who cant as well as 2 picks a prospect. sens need to hit the cap floor and need players to actually play on their roster so they dont rush their young players. they accomplish this and pick up additional assets

So what? I could take Clark MacArthur and another player who puts up average 4th line numbers and pay him 1mill or less. Combined that gives me Lucic's production with less term, much less cap hit, and a shade less total expense. Russel's the same way. I could get a 1mill defender to do his job and get 3mill less cap hit, spend an extra 250K and not lose a step in production. Getting to cap floor is fine but that will involve taking on contracts that don't last another 4 years, and come with a nicer incentive to take those contracts than an undrafted AHL forward and a couple mid round picks.
