New approach

Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 11, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1.McJesus needs wingers, Kapanen has both the speed and skill to compliment him well and Brown has had success with him at different levels. It'd be tough to part with Bouchard but you have to give to receive, and both those wingers are still young. Plus Draisaitl can stay on and anchor the 2nd line.

The Leafs lose 2 guys they can afford to lose and can't afford to keep. In return they rid themselves of Zaitsev and upgrade on him at the same time while they also get a grade A prospect.

2. Puljujarvi is done in Edmonton and the Oilers could either try to net assets for him or use him as incentive to a team to take off cap pressure. This deal with MTL I feel they get both. It's time to move on from Sekera and his 5.5 contract, at the same time they add a young backup with good potential in Lindgren and a workhorse that I'm high on in Jake Evans.

MTL gets a high risk possibly high reward in Puljujarvi and although Sekera has battled injuries and is overpaid if healthy he could be a good top 4 ld option while prospects gain experience. Plus the Habs can afford him.

Oilers aren’t trading Bouchard. He has potential to become the next John Carlson.

Not if he’s going to have to develop in the oilers system

And Pulujarvi was supposed to be the next Jamie Benn. McDavid needs help now and the Oilers lack assets so moving Bouchard may be there best option to address their needs.

Lol no it wouldn’t. Especially not for Kapanen. If I were to trade Bouchard it’d be for a perennial 30 goal scorer like a Tarasenko

Aside from Puljujärvi, the oilers are actually developing their prospects just fine.

With Kapanen's speed and skill he would light it up on McDavid's wing playing first line and first pp minutes. Not to mention he's only 22. Bet ya first year in EDM he would outscore Tarasenko.
