add probably 1.5m to that offersheet to ensure that Columbus cant match it. An offer like the one you proposed, they dont hestiate in matching

CBJ is in cap hell!!! I think it would be hilarious if CBJ couldn't match an offer sheet on Seth Jones regardless who he signed it with. The would also need to sign the 3rd overall pick to a contract. so you'd have 2 players that could potential cost $10,000,000 between the two of them. CBJ can't afford that much...

925k...thats as much as a cap hit a top 3 pick will have. They have bonuses that they could make up to 3.5m. But this upcoming season his Cap hit is 925k with bonuses carrying over to the next season if he hits them all.

A first year ELC isnt going to hurt them in being able to match an offer sheet going into next season

So assuming the cap is 74 million and CBJ goes with their current roster on this website, they will have $7,442,857 in cap space. The minimum wage in the NHL is $525,000. If someone offer sheets Jones for more than $6,392,857, they can't afford to match the offer, unless they plan on dressing 21 players, moving contracts, or playing a lot of people with ELC's or cheap contracts. Kekäläinen will have to make some good moves if this is a possibility.

They will match pretty much anything on Jones after what they gave up for him...

Remember for offer sheets that if the term is over 5 years that you have to add the total sum of the contract and divide by 5 for the AAV compensation level.
5.6 mil x 7 = 39.2 mil total divided by 5 is 7.84. this would mean EDM would have to give up 2 Firsts, 1 Second and 1 Third.
might not be worth it as they will still be picking top 10 for the next two years
