Team: 2018-19 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 12, 2019
Published: Mar. 12, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is a hard exercise:
-many contracts are not signed for the 2021-2022 year and only 5 players I selected are under team control in 2021-2022
-younger players do not have much NHL experience so hard to project progression and hard to identify who teams will protect

I protected:
Vasilevsky
Hedman, McDonagh, Sergachev
Stamkos, Palat, Miller, Johnson, Kucherov, Cirelli, Point

Who would you have protected/taken? I don't pretend to know the depth chart of every team.

Yeah no.

No on what specifically? Of course I don't believe this to be the final Seattle team.
I would assume Seattle would copy the Vegas model and grab a bunch of prospects and try to deal with teams to get draft picks to protect additional players.

Well, I don't mean to be rude, but I think that a lot of those are obvisouly going to be protected for the expansion draft. Names like : Subban, Holtby, JVR, Kadri and so on.

Not rude. I agree that teams will wheel and deal and try to trade players as to not expose good players or make side deals with Seattle. But I made the picks with the current rosters.
For Subban, I protected: Josi, Ekholm, Ellis who are all 1 year younger and significantly cheaper than Subban.
For Holtby, I protected: Samsonov who was their 1st round pick in 2015 and goalie of the future
For JVR, I protected: Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, Patrick, Konecny and since they have an older team, I figured they may let JVR get taken so they can protect 2 younger prospects. But I will give you this one that JVR will most likely be protected.
For Kadri, I protected: Tavares, Nylander, Hyman, Brown, Matthews, Marner, Kapanen and they still have various good prospects Johnsson, Moore, Petan, Bracco, Gauthier that will also be left exposed.

I barely know how this works. Who did the Leafs protect?
