Initial Creation Date: Mar. 15, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ryan Callahan & Gabriel Fortier to the New York Rangers~ The Rangers have explained their desperate need of a left wing for multiple seasons, and now with the departure of Zuccarello their left wing depth is weak. The Rangers bring in a solid left wing prospect who currently has 81 points in the QMJHL. On a rebuilding Rangers team he could make the jump next year. Rangers GM also stated that he likes the idea of bringing in a character guy to help mentor the young kids. He would step in an serve as a captain and possibly help the Rangers make a run for the last wild card spot. He is a bonified leader and would help them before his contract expires. The Lightning are clearing cap for the offseason as they need to re sign star Brayden Point. This trade helps them do just that. Of course giving up a prospect is never good, but the Lightning have a pool of other talented forward prospects including Taylor Raddysh, Boris Katchouk, and Alexander Volkov. The Lightning also throw in a couple of mid round picks to sweeten the deal a little more.

Brayden Point comes back to the Lightning for 32.5/4 years~ Brayden Point signs a larger scale bridge contract worth 8.125 M annually. Point is projected to score anywhere from 95 to 100 points this season which was like Nikita Kucherov last season. Kucherov signed a 9.5 M annually for 8 years. Point is signing to keep the team together for the 4 years until his contract is up and then his large pay day is coming.

Cedric Paquette and Adam Erne sign 2 year team friendly deals~ Adam Erne and Cedric Paquette are both having career years. They can bring momentum, they both play like every game is the playoffs, and can chip in a couple goals here and there. Both are brought back to help round out the forward depth.

Dan Girardi signs a 1 year 1.275 M contract in hopes of another winning season~ Girardi is all for the winning and the team. This contract sums that up. Girardi is a leader who puts his body on the line every game. He helps round out the bottom pairing with Mikhail Sergachev in hopes of another winning season.

Fortier is a b prospect. It isn't enough.

I really want to say there is no way point signs for that little. And there really shouldn't be, but Yzerman has twice gotten stars to sign under market value. We'll see if the new gm can do the same.

Market value on him had to be over Eichel. So 10.5+.

Did you not read my reasoning behind the Callahan trade.

I did indeed. I still don't think it's enough. No matter which way you explain it the Callahan contract is a boat anchor. It'll cost you to get out of and I don't think Fortier is a high enough cost. Fortier and a 2019 2nd?

The buyout penalty is a slap on the wrist, we'll go that route if the asking price for Cally is too high.
