I really like the concept of this, and I think it's quite reasonable. But I think only Peter Chiarelli would give Hayes that much $ - that's about 1.5-2 million too much if you ask me. Especially if he is going to be the 3C - that's an easy ticket to cap hell (although the moves you made here, combined with Calgary's cap situation prior to this does make "cap hell" quite a hyperbole. Most teams that would be the case).

The problem with Hayes is that he’s gonna be overpaid this summer. He’s the 2nd best centre behind Duchene so I think he gets at least 6, but realistically IMO he’s overpaid this season at 5.1

true. He will (as does 95% of free agents) get too much. Though Calgary most likely won't pay that much for a third liner

Dunno about that. Hayes is in pace for 65 points this year. Generally players with those stats will never get just $4,5-5M. Realistically, his new contract is going to be closer to $6,5-7M range. Stastny got a $6,5M contract after being WPGs 2C with 53-point season. Hayes has the same role in the same team, is younger and has scored more. I'm not a big fan of him, but he's going to have a big payday. I'd be extremely surprised if $6M would be enough to sign him.
