Basic DRW

Created by: JacLax
Team: 2016-17 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 1, 2016
Published: Jun. 1, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Typical AGM DRW moves, trying to burn time at work.

Breakdown:

ARI Trade - ARI gets a RHD prospect that can't fit into DET's roster and a cap hit with no actual salary, DET gets low round pick in return.

CAR Trade - Canes get Howie at 4 million to bridge the gap to a younger starter rather than committing to a more expensive vet. Pulk can't find room in DET but could be a good reclamation project. Murphy can't find room in CAR but can take similar role with DET with more opportunity as offensive RHD.

ANA Trade - DET gives up Nyquist and Turgeon to boost ANA's offense now and provide a decent C prospect in return for Fowler who is being pushed out by younger LHD.

PHI Trade - Jurco can't find room in DET, PHI takes a chance on him to fill a void on their 3rd line for cheap.

Staal Signing - Paid extra dollar for shorter term, meant to provide size and experience down the middle while younger guys develop.

I thought Ryan Murphy of CAR was a RHD. Why try to move him to RW?

He is but from what I saw this season CAR often utilized him as I am now, a 4th line RW with PP time as RHD. It's different but if he does well in that role (I don't watch much of CAR to know) then I see him eventually being a Krug type player for the Wings in that he plays 3rd pairing RHD with PP time. As of now though the defense is just too clogged.

Edit: The lineup here (http://www2.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/lines/18/carolina-hurricanes) shows him at 4th line RW. I'm not entirely too sure how long he was there or how well he did but at least now I have something to back this up haha.

Philly took Ville Leino when we had nothing left to do with him to... there are a lot of guys in Detroit that just don't get in the lineup, but can go to other teams and possibly make a better impact. I think your trades are pretty good. Might need to throw in a 4th rounder or something to get the Fowler deal to go through. Overall pretty good squad though.
