I think Philly only makes that trade if it's a 1 for 1 hockey deal. Also I like what Simmonds would bring to the Habs, and that you're correct on the term it would take to get him. Problem is he turns 31 this summer and is coming off a weak season, and players rarely trend up on the wrong side of thirty. I just don't think the Habs are at the correct point of this retool to justify that signing.

You're probably right. Just seems out of all UFAs, his game/attitude would make the most sense to add to this group if the Habs are going to spend on anyone. A line with him and Domi would be nasty, and both he and Ghost would be helpful to correct a terrible PP that essentially cost them the playoffs this year.

They definitely would, but I'd settle for a new assistant coach over signing Simmonds till he's 36.
