Very interesting ideas. My only 2 critiques are:

1) Adam Fox committed to staying at Harvard for his senior year, so he wouldn't sign this summer anyway. His rights are likely to be traded this summer for a mid-range prospect (who is under contract) and a future conditional pick (2nd or 3rd) based on him signing next summer.

2) Tampa is already gonna be short on cap space with them needing to extend Brayden Point, and likely taking a run at a top UFA (Karlsson or Panarin). Even with the Rangers retaining all that salary, that is $4 Million for a bottom pairing Dman who has been a resounding disappointment. Teams that are up against the cap can't afford that.

Besides that, very good ideas

Don't think teams will have to pay that much for Fox seeing as he will probably go the free agency route. Back when Vesey was the top college free agent Buffalo traded a third rounder for his negotiating rights and still were unable to sign him. Teams will be wary of giving up a haul for someone who will test the free agency market.

As for the Shattenkirk trade I was going under the assumption that Tampa will not bring back all 4 UFA Dmen (Girardi, Coburn, Stralman, and Rutta). Those contracts will free up about 13.5 mil to re-sign Point and adding Shattenkirk on a 4 mil deal over 2 seasons is great value. His game picked up during the second half of the season and he can still contribute on the PP. Pairing him with McDonagh would mask any defensive deficiencies. Am also assuming Tampa will be doing some other salary dumping with Ottawa (Callahan, Killorn, Palat all options)

Thanks for your feedback
