Trouba JT Miller Turcotte

Created by: sabertooth12
Team: 2019-20 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 10, 2019
Published: Apr. 10, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
First... have to sign Skinner
There is no reason to trade Risto unless we are trading up... ie: Trouba
Lowry is a good penalty kill and faceoff guy for the 4th line
JT Miller is a solid two way guy with good faceoff stats and can put up points in a 2C/3C rotation role with Mittelstadt based on who is performing throughout the season
Need to drop dead weight: Larsson, Girgensens, Scandella, Sobodka, Hunwick, Okposo (not possible with his deal and still somewhat producing), and Callahan (only 1 more year left on deal)
I think Olofsson, Nylander, and Pilut will all be studs at the next level
Okposo, Callahan and Thompson can rotate on the 3rd and 4th line RW roles throughout the season
Tanev is a high energy, good defensive pickup who has chemistry with Low
ry
In 2020-2021 we will have Lukkonnen, Turcotte, and possibly Samuelsson coming up to finish off the rebuild

I like the Trouba idea, but I think Winnipeg knows how desperate Buffalo is to solidify there D core. I think they take the trade only if a top prospect is thrown in and another pick. Isn't Callahan a UFA after this year anyway? I bet you can get him at a home town discount to play close to home to finish his career, sorta like Gio did. Instead of Millet, I'd like to see Buffalo throw the #7 pick and Scandella along with a prospect or 2 and try to get Point.

Agree with comment on need more to get JT Miller .. Miller is a 50ish point producer who is center but can also play all 3 lines and forward/PP also. Great on faceoffs also .. problem for him .. and good for Tampa is centers called Point Stamkos and Cirelli (future star .. 40 pts and led league in PK minutes) .. still Miller is stud in his upper 20s with manageable LT contract .. he worth WAY more in open market

I understand that, but I think it's hard to imagine Miller and the 5,800,000 cap dump of Callahan to be worth a 1st round pick... even a late one. Maybe throw in a 4th or lower end prospect, but I can't see much more being worth it for those two. CJ Smith is a point per game player in the AHL and certainly NHL ready. Casey Fitz has shown improvement every year since he has been drafted in the 3rd round and seems likely to crack an NHL roster within the next year or two... I'm not sure how much more you need being that Buffalo is taking on over 11,000,000 towards their cap and TBL is desperate to sign Point

I agree with your point about Trouba, now that I think about it, the Sabres could throw in a top prospect like Asplund, a high second round pick who has shown a lot of progress. He will be expendable if we draft another center at 7 like Turcotte or Zegras. I don't think the Sabres need Point tbh, he would cost us too much

Just disagreeing on Miller .. firstly last thing Tampa needs is more prospects .. we already loaded with 3 to 5 Crunch players HAVE to play next year. It is one of best farm systems in NHL. Only a 1 or 2 2s would suffice for future. Secondly Tampa is not desperate to sign Point .. 12M comes off books this year from 3 old D we will not need. Lastly .. Miller is an upgrade at 2/3 line center for half of NHL.
