Big NO fr WPG on your trade.

Trouba gets traded at the 2019 draft and his money goes to Connor+Liane.

WPG are in win-now-mode, so I don't think they want 'futures' when cornerstone guys like Wheeler and Scheif age-wise are pushin' 33 and 27, respectively.

Honestly, Connor may just be the most valuable of all three Jets you list above!

The Jets problem, is both he and Liane have a bit of a small sample size and they're streaky. Looking at just goal totals over the last two seasons where KC has been a regular, he's #20 in the entire league overall w/ 65 goals.
* Entry or RFA-wise in the last two years he's eclipsed only by: #7 Liane 74 goals, #8 Point 73 g, and #15 Debrincat 69 g, and that's it!!
* For reference - #1, 2, 3 are Ovi, JT and McJazuz.

So EDM would have to sweeten the pot for dang sure if I'm lounging in the Portage and Main GM's big fat recliner...now, how about an Ehlers trade??

Cap should be about $83 million for the 2019/2020 season, You still need to sign 6 more players. No way you'll have the cap space to do so.

Jets need cap space so they might have do a trade like the one posted. But the Oilers have cap issues also, probably aren't the team that just add 7m in cap.

Connor's a good player, but his most common linemates were Scheifele and Wheeler. How much does this affect his value?

I ask this because I read all about how Draisaitl has much less value than other 50-goal scorers because he plays with McDavid, and RNH has little value because he's on the same PP unit as McDavid, etc. etc. Yet here we are talking about Connor as if he's a superstar when he scored 66 points playing next to a 91-point player and an 84-point player.

Meanwhile the Oilers are "not even remotely close" when they offer:
- Benson, AHL's leading rookie scorer* who projects to get 35 points in the NHL next year NOT including the "McDavid-bump" every EDM player reportedly gets (sarcasm)
- 8th overall pick in a draft that is exactly 9 elite players deep. The guy picked at 8 will very likely be a 1st liner in 3 years. Zegras and Turcotte, for instance, have similar or better numbers in the USHL this year to what Connor had in his draft year
- 2020 2nd round pick

* Benson is 66, 14-51-65 +22, 0.985 p/gp
At the same age (Connor was 3 months older, actually), Connor scored 52, 25-19-44 -8, 0.846 p/gp in the same league.

Some good points there and yes Connor has great linemates, but guys who score get paid.
Nonetheless, KC's agent's still gonna get him big dough US$6-8M probably or he'll sit like Nylander.

Chevy's gonna have to find some 'dance partners' or money launderers haha! Lots to ponder and I'm not looking to solve it all but in a nutshell Jets roster on CFriendly = 24 players for playoffs.

UFAs Issues
* 7 pending UFAs totalling about US$16M coming off the books.
* Probably want to sign Hayes ($5-7M?) and Tanev ($2-2.5M?).
* If so, nets them about $8M + Current Cap Space at $4M = $12M(est) total cap at this point and 19 on the roster (not bad)!

RFAs Issues
The trouble really looks like an RFA-jail (8 RFA NHLers & 6 AHL)
* NHL-wise say they sign as follows: Connor ($6-8M), Laine ($7-9M), Copp ($1.5M) and Comrie ($1M) = $18M (est) and now at 23 players signed (that's better)!

Subtract Trouba's $5.5M = $17.5M in cap space + Add $3.5M for new cap limit next season = $21M real cap space - $18M in RFA signings above = $3M Cap leftover and 23 NHL players signed for 2019/20 Jets (that's great)!!
