What if we let Lee walk

Description
OK Hear me out. Beyond the obvious play style concerns, we are deep at LW, and that's generally the easiest position to fill. Nelson is looking legit, Eberle is developing chemistry with Barzal and is a coveted right hand shot, and Lehner has been lights out all year.

With another year of progression, and playing alongside Barzal and on the PP, I can see MDC potting around 20 if he's able to translate the goalscoring ability he had in Bridgeport to the NHL. If that's the case, we lose about 8 goals in that spot, and gain about 30 in the difference between Skinner and the Ladd/Kuhnackl combination we had going this year. No chance Lou/Trotz don't go for MoJo this summer... low risk high reward, and his best seasons were under Trotz. Boychuk becomes captain and Barzal or Nelson an A

"LET Lee walk". No, Lee is UFA, so it hardly the Isles choice where Lee signs next year. Now I will agree with you, maybe the Isles, don't offer Lee a satisfactory contract so he signs elsewhere

Unless the number to keep him is insane (which I doubt it will be) Anders is not leaving Long Island. Your MDC assumption is asking a lot. I think he will be a satisfactory 3rd line checker. Not what we thought with the 5th pick status but whatever

lmao thanks for the semantic lesson bud. yes, obviously what i meant by "let lee walk" was "not offer Lee a contract". just when you thought leaf fans couldn't get any more intolerable...

yeah, i realize it's a big step forward, but he was playing at a 45 goal pace in Bridgeport. Dude has shown an ability to play in front of the net similar to Lee (although obviously not on the same level), and has one of the better wristers on the team IMO. As long as he can keep up with those other two skating wise, and gets some PP time (and the PP is any type of improved), 20ish sounds reasonable to me

"Let him walk", used by so many....as if a team has a control over a UFA. Similarly the phrase, "you wouldn't be able to sign (your own UFA)". As if a UFA was yours property to sign anyway. Thanks for knowing the difference, but many seemingly don't. Regarding Lee, not sure of the value others teams put on him, but a captain of a rising team, screams "hometown discount" to me. But I defer to your knowledge of the Isles.
