The trades aren't horrible, but there is no way they can go in with that defense.
The strength of the Pettersson Gudbranson pairing was it knew it's limitations on the 3rd pairing.

I mean in the month of March the pens went 13-3-3 or something like that and it was without Letang, Dumoulin, and Maatta for most of that stretch. It’s not the most talented blueline, no. But at least they would be responsible and only take calculated risks instead of being reckless like a particular someone who said they’re not changing their game

It's not Letang it's the Coach.

He wasn't the only one pinching down and getting caught on a two on one. Schultz did the same crap and Jack Johnson was the one left exposed taking the blame for it yet again.

The system needs to change. Everyone knows they pinch down and then it results on a two on one. We have seen it over and over and over for the last 2 years.

The coach needs to change the system already but he refuses to in his arrogance. It's clearly not working anymore and teams have made the adjustment. So until that happens you will keep seeing this happen.

It’s “calculated risk” tho. Yes Schultz gets caught doing it as well. But no where near the amount that Letang does. Letang literally does it all the time. That’s not “calculated risk”. The system in place is for “calculated risk”. The system didn’t change when Letang was out. The risk associated with the dmen changed

funny because I watch a lot of hockey, and a lot of games at the NHL level. And I don't see other teams coughing up nearly as many 2 on 1s as the penguins do.
You can say it's the player, but lets be honest. Put stupid people in stupid situations and get stupid results.

He needs to change the system. It's not working and it's not just one player.
