Sorry, but Erik Karlsson isn't signing for a mere $9M and he sure as heck ain't signing for just 4 years. Doughty got $11M for 8 years. Since you can't give EK an 8-year deal, you should probably plan to pay more.

It's 3m more then he is making with the Sharks and how did that 11m Doughty deal work out for the Kings. But you are right it will likely take more than 9m and a longer term. A guy can dream right?
