And it’s an underpay for all except Johnsson. They need to move out money bad

I figure Marner at 8 years would be closer to the Matthews Contract. Something along these lines:
8@11.616
7@10.866
6@10.116
5@9.366
4@8.616
3@8.241
2@7.866
1@7.491

I think Johnsson will get a touch more for 4 years as he is reportedly not being cooperative in terms of contract negotiations. Remember he took his QA last year to get a bigger payday now.
Kappy on the other hand is reportedly VERY team friendly and willing to cooperate on a shorter deal. I expect a shorter deal at a slightly lower (discounted) cap hit.

tl;dr
Mango:4@3.25
Kappy:2@2.5

If Johnsson is "not being cooperative" we should trade him. We can't overypay rookies in this situation. My guess is Marner for 10.16x6

I mean, that is not an overpayment for that term. He just isn't willing to take a discount, and wants a bit longer term. No need to trade our best LW.

Sorry I didn't really look at your proposed contract. 3.25/4 is pretty good, but I think if players get greedy they will be gone. Dubas wlll be looking for excuses to trade guys like him.

Why would Dubas be looking for excuses to trade away young talent?

If we are struggling to move out older bodies he may look to moving out a guy like Johnsson. It obviously isn't the first choice, but people seem to think moving out Marleau and Zaitsev is cake.
Brown and Naz are on the block for me personally.

But yeah you're right
