Small Tweeks

Created by: Ramsay
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 29, 2019
Published: Apr. 29, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Could be a rough year.
We all know it would be ideal if Marleau was leaving but hes not so its gotta be Kadri and Brown.
Willy is going to get a chance to show what he can do at C for an entire year with Bracco on his wing.
Its time to see if some of our young D are ready for the show. If not its going to be a long year.
If it goes real bad we may have to ship out Johnsson or Kappanen for some help on D.
Polak is cheap experience on D.

there are so many better trade options then myers, lilly isnt nhl ready much less 1st pair ready. zaitsev is most likely getting moves but most of all polak? im not sure if this is serious or not

Like I said in the notes with the trade, could be any young RHD prospect. Basically just cutting ties with Kadri. I do think you are right about Liljegren, maybe a little wishful thinking with him i guess.
As for moving Zaitsev, it may be possible but then you have to replace him as well. Not sure GMs will be lining up to give you their good D contracts for your bad ones.
I'm not a big Polak fan but signing him is just being realistic. Money is going to be tight and he is cheap and plays 19 minutes a night on a team that is playing in the second round. We can upgrade when the Marleau contract is off the books.

someone like gunnarson, tim heed or even justin holl playing 15 is better then polak. no one can trust babcock to play he favorite toy in a limited role.

Hey, sign what ever trash you want. I don't see those guys as huge upgrades on Polak, but thats just my opinion. The Leafs will get what they pay for and the bottom line is they can't afford to spend much on D next year if they want to keep all their forwards.
Should be interesting to see what Dubas does.
