Outsiders perspective. This might strap them a bit cap wise but this team is GOOD. Might be a little light in the return for Malkin tho...

COL is one of the few teams I actually do think Malkin fits in a trade. 1.) They need scoring depth...Malkin provides 2.) COL has pretty good cap space...Eberle might not be in the cards 3.) they have an "extra" 1st rounder...important to PIT because this declares their "rebuild on the fly" 4.) Malkin might be ignorant enough to believe that HE's the one that's leading this team...so there won't be any of this behind Crosby stuff at least in his mind. As for the return...I think it might be too much. PIT's in desperation mode. take advantage of it. If you've giving up these assets...send back salary too (Cole) so that COL can afford a guy like Eberle. It's only 3 years of Malkin and @ $9.5M.

Interesting trade. But signing Eberle for 6 years x $6.25 would give his agent an automatic criminal record.

Too low I’m assuming. I was thinking his meh regular season would devalue him a little bit but his performance in the the playoffs has probably changed that...

Jost, girard, kerfoot, a 1st and a 2nd (conditional to become a 1st)
Nothing less for a franchise player

You are sure you don't want Rantanen as well!
3 years of a great player (behind Rantanen & MacK) need to be realistic and not getting 3 young proven NHL good player + 2x1st!
I do think: Kerfoot, Cole, Timmins + Col 1st is fair= Giving depth with Cole to trade out Maatta... Top 6 F in Kerfoot with 2 prospect (Tims + Lavoie? 2019 late first round)

No, it's too high. Ebs isn't worth that kind of term, probably not the money either. Don't overpay a guy for 6 years just because he went on a 2-week-long heater

Really? Well in any case that’s solvable haha. Would you still think bringing him in on a cheaper contract would be worth it or would you pursue someone else to fill the RWs out?

I don't dislike Eberle, but I would pursue Zuccarello or Nyquist ahead of him. Connolly, too. They'll come in cheaper than the Eberle contract you have listed, with the possible exception of Nyquist.
