Why? Aging vets. Go after youth. Get Duchene or Eberle. Labels I will likely stay in SJ anyway.

I think long term, MTL future lies with Kotkaniemi, Suzuki, Peohling, Romanov and Brook alongside Domi, Gallagher and Mete. In the short term, Weber, Price and Petry are in the remaining few years of their prime; you either get rid of them or support them short term in order to make use of their remaining years. Short term deals also allows you room to integrate Suzuki, Peohling, Romanov and Brook in the next few years.

That’s true but I don’t think these two oldies are necessary. I’d rather see them sign more supportive role players who are not as old but have experience, are realistic targets and would contribute. I’d look at Zuccarello, Brassard, Nyquist, Donskoi, Simmons’s.
