CUP WINNING AVS

Created by: JohnC
Team: 2019-20 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2019
Published: May 10, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Landeskog needs to get faster. Easier said than done, but we need his rookie year speed back
2. Kaut, Kamenev, Bowers all compete for spots in camp
3. Soderberg has been an absolute liability for the Avs in the playoffs. Just thought I'd put that out there
4. The contract on Compher and Dzingel are pipe dreams
5. The reason for the years on the contract being so low is that the avs are in their cup window, that's their selling point

1. That's not his game. Landy doesn't need to keep up with the likes of Mack and Makar because he just needs to stand in front of the net and tip in pucks and win battles along the boards and behind the net. He complements the speed of Mack so well by playing his own game, no need for him to try and be what he isn't.
2. Agreed, I think Bowers probably spends another year in the AHL, while I see Kaut and Kamenev going either way. Feel like the latter 2 have a big impact the NHL next year as depth pieces. Kamenev just needs to stay healthy.
3. Yeah he was ghost against San Jose, don't know what happened to him, one of the more consistent guys during the regular season and he didn't do much to help in that series.
4. Don't think they even consider going after Dzingel, and the Compher contract I think is paying him more than what he's worth. I think he signs something like a 3X3. Hope they don't pay him more than 3.5. Hasn't stayed healthy through a full year and is, at best imo, at 20 goal/40 point guy.
5. To get someone like Hayes or Ferland they're probably going to have to give at least 5 years on the deal (and a lot more money), I see what you're saying but just not realistic.

1. Landy is fine how he is. He was not faster his rookie year, he just played a lot more recklessly...and it took a toll on his body. That is why he is not the full-on Viking all the time now.
2. Kaut and Bowers need to season a bit more int he AHL. Kamenev owns a spot if he stays healthy.
3. You are not wrong. That dirty hit from Eichel messed him up. If he does not recover, they need to LTIR him if at all possible. (I doubt it)
4. The JTC one I see as OK, maybe a bit high.
5. Not sure how much a selling point that really is for younger players.

The things that stick out for me.
The trade is pointless. We have plenty of small young D. Moving forward, I want guys that can play both ways, or at least not be a liability in front of Gru. I am fine with losing Barbs though. And getting a younger version is better, so I get it....just not the type I would prefer at this point.
All the external UFA contracts are low. Like Very low. I am good with going after each of them, but I am not sure all 3 are feasible.
Mikko might cost more than that.
On second thought, JTC and Kerfoot should be paid less....$3M each. Maybe $3.25M. But using Kerfoot as bait would be OK too.
Not sure Lindholm sticks around. He is clearly not NHL caliber, and I think he would rather play at home if he isn't making NHL money.
Timmins may have to spend the year with the Eagles, so signing Graves is good.
