Description

this trade makes sense because montreal needs to make room at center for guys like poehling and also bring in a bonafide super skilled player to help out their young centers. As for the jets it gives them a bit of of a longer term option for a 2nd line center. I hope Ehlers is not traded or do I think he should be traded, but this trade does make sense.

Danault has been more than amazing for us but I guess thats the price to pay for a solid young top 6. I like it.

Danault would be a great pick up for the Jets and he's exactly what they need but do 2-2nds make up for the lost years of Ehlers when Danault walks in free agency, I don't think it is.
I'd rather trade someone else for Danault if possible though it's highly unlikely they'd even trade him. Yes I know the Habs have some nice center prospects now but there's no guarantee they'll be ready to just step into the NHL, they may need some time in Laval and Danault is that placeholder until they're ready.

I would do it as a Habs fan but I think the Bergevin would take out 1 pick. Danault is viewed highly by the org and other teams accross the league. The guy is a perfect 2C.
I think Bergevin would try Danault for Ehlers straight up but MTL has three 2nds in 2020 so I think Bergevin could add one of them to get the deal done, doubt he’d do two.
