i know this is about the Marner trade but I'm just going to address the defence. Leafs have D depth, 3rd pair will be 2 of Rosen/Holl/Liljegren/Sandin/Kivhalme. they don't need to add there. top 4 will be Rielly with whoever they add as a RHD and then Muzzin with Dermott (when he returns from injury). Dermott has played RD his entire life until coming to the Leafs. it's a natural fit and he's progressed enough to be a top 4 D, i don't know why everyone puts him 3rd pair LD

I don't know about this. TB wants to keep Rutta because they can have a cheap Top 6 RHD. Brown just puts them into more cap trouble and with their bottom 6 forwards and some rookies they have, there is no need for him. Unless Greenway is an A prospect (which it doesn't look like he is) Toronto cannot go for this otherwise Dubas is fired. Dumba, a less than A- prospect, and a 12th overall pick can't cut it. Also Zaitsev is not as much of a burden as people think. If he was making 2.5-3.3 a year, people wouldn't be so iffy about him. I feel like Minnesota wins this trade hard. Always interesting seeing if the unexpected and extreme like a Marner trade will happen though. I also do like how much emphasis you are putting on D as I think that is such a big reason why Toronto is forever 1st rounders.

Idk what Greenway is but hes a 22 year old 6'6 power forward and many people consider him untouchable
