Really? As a Pens fan I would be alright with this deal as is. Jarry isn't needed because we have Murray. Maatta-Cole swap is fine with me and getting the 4OA pick for Kessel + 21 will be worth it if the Pens get Bowen Byram. I think its a win-win for both teams.

I dont see the need with petterson and dumoulin, maybe podkolzin would be a great pickup to play with malkin?

Im not big on Petterson at all I think his ceiling is a bottom pairing dman. Byram wouldn't play till the year after but hes a cornerstone player IMO. Plus Schultz is probably gone after this year as well unless he takes a pay cut.

Addison can always takeover and you use stop gaps on the bottom pair like any other team

Yeah Addison will hopefully be ready for NHL by then. He`s similar to Schultz I think that was the idea behind drafting him. But Byram will step right in next year and be an elite Dman for 15 years. I think hes that good and a lot of people agree. 2020 D could look like Dumo-Letang

The 4th is too valuable, Cole is the perfect depth Dman who is a big cog on the Avs blue line, who hated his last season with the Pens with how they treated him. No way he wants to go back there.

Jarry is a busted Goalie Prospect and Määttä sucks and Avs have 0 interest in those pieces. So it comes down is the 4th and Cole for Kessel and the 21st. I would 100 times out of a 100 keep the 4th and Cole

Most people Ive talked to about the idea. But I agree with the Cole thing. Maatta doesnt suck thats just people ganging up on him here. Disagree with Jarry too. He`s not a deal breaker in this trade but its a nice piece. He would be a cheap backup goalie with upside. And the idea is at 21 they get their franchise goalie anyways. While also adding Kessel, who is premier scorer at 6.8M per year. A player at 4 overall isn't going to make an impact like Kessel will for a few years. Avs should be all in while their core is young and in their prime. I think if you look at the big picture the Avs get a pretty damn good deal.

What if it was Zadorov or a defensive prospect and 4th for Kessel, 21st, Maatta, Jarry and a decent prospect? I don`t think the value was far off but If I was Pens I`d throw in another piece to get it done if needed.
