New Found Cap

Created by: Icarus
Team: 2019-20 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: May 15, 2019
Published: May 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With Kes getting surgery again, he qualifies for LTIR before the season opens. Let's see our options.

> Dzingel is a safe signing. He's 27 and a 20 goal scorer. We need solidity on LW with old getting slower or older. He could command more but I think 4.5 with a bonus might work well.
> Myers is one of the best RD available aside from Stralman, but younger and can play on the second PP unit.
> Shore is the odd man out and makes sense to move for cheap. We could keep him as a PK specialist but at this point it seems pointless with youth coming up.

No point in signing Dzingle. Takes a spot from a kid. Should only add a winger if they’re a big upgrade over what they have. Also don’t like the Myers signing. He’s going to get overpaid for a guy that’s played behind Buff and Trouba.

I mostly like the option of Dzingel for solidity to things like PP and depth. We are a team that gets injured a LOT and when we start looking at the kids we can get thin pretty quick. BM always signs a couple 1 mil 1 year depth guys for that purpose, but I would like to see a decent kid who could score in the mix. I also like having more bait for the expansion draft.

Myers still offers a lot but plays on a loaded D team. He still plays a great 2 way game and can play both ends well. He's got a good shot on the PP and a big body for PK. We only have 3 real D men next year with Lindholm, Manson, and Fowler. I don't like the idea of 3 kids playing D every night. And I also don't like the discount D men that add very little beyond "veteran presence". Myers or Stalman round off the top 4 nicely.

Personally I’d rather let Fowler play the right and have Guhle round out the top 4 and maybe see what the cost for Honka is. He was drafted in the 1st round so he’s got talent. Maybe a fresh start after he fell outta favor in DAL would be good for him.

As for dzingle you have Ritchie scratched. I know +/- isn’t the greatest stat but he was the only duck regular on the plus side. Rather sign the 1M 1 yr guy as scratch depth and let the kids develop. This team has pretty good potential and with Gibson anything is possible.

I like that idea as well. I think its just hard to say with Guhle. He is a huge ? for the ducks since he barely played after the trade. It would be great to see him or even Larsson make a solid top 4 guy. But I also don't want to rely on trades to fill that need down the line. Honka could be solid as well.

I'll be honest, never been a fan of Ritchie. He seems like he will follow the path of Belesky and Maroon. And I would like to trade him while he has value personally. When he is effective he's a great part of the line up, but he's a bottom six role guy. But I totally agree, I want this young team to get time to play and hopefully under Eakins as coach.
