Just Lou It Part VII - The Deathly Hallows

Created by: ac_Isles
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2019
Published: May 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I've circled around acquiring RNH as the Isles' second line center because signing Duchene might be difficult in the offseason. Unless the Loufather is granted an audience to him and his agent during the hearing week before FA, I won't be entertain Duchene lists for awhile. Also, acquiring RNH and Tatar might suffice the needed scoring 'pop' that Trotz alluded to in his recent interview.

As much as I love “eat Callahan’s contract for assets” post, I’d just bury him in the scratches and skate Dal Colle instead. He didn’t score often, but I saw flashes of playmaking.

Also, I feel like Beau, Bode, Ho-Sang and a 1st is a LOT for Nuge. That’s a 1st, a young middle six center wing with a lot of upside, a future Top 4 Power Play QB and an NHL worthy 3rd liner. Why all that for a just okay C2?

Regarding Callahan, I would scratch all day, everyday for Dal Colle. However, given the Loufather/Trotz’s MO on veterans, the team will plug him in the lineup, either third or fourth line. He’s good defensively and adds another ‘character’ voice in the lockeroom.

Regarding RNH, the trade assets are preliminary, so I’m willing to amend it. However, I disagree with him just being an ‘OK’ 2C. He’s a highly skilled playmaker, who also can place pucks in the back of the net. His 67 point season alone eclipses the Isles’ best player, Barzy. He can plug in at center and wing, the former of which the Isles have little to no depth. Also, as an alt captain of the Oilers, RNH adds leadership off-ice and potential chemistry with Barzy, being a fellow BC kid.
