Ottawa offseason plan

Created by: eddyed24
Team: 2019-20 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: May 18, 2019
Published: May 19, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Ottawa Senators are in full rebuild mode. With that in mind they need to let their youngsters either develop in the Ahl or let them play a big role with the big club. But Ottawa got a problem. With the situation they are but don't even reach the cap floor and with last season being so bad I don't see a big ufa signing with them. So they'll have to take some bad contracts from teams in order to reach the floor. In the process they could ask for a draft pick or a prospect. If I get positive reviews I could try to do the same thing for other teams.

Trades make sense. Thats a lot for Duclair, he had a good little run there at the end of last season but his overall career is pretty spotty in terms of production. However, it doesn't make a lot of difference since the Sens will be nowhere near the cap.

Yeah I know it's a lot for Duclair but as you can see the Sens just pass the cap floor with his signature. I see it as a win-win for both side. Duclair got rewarded for the time he went to Ottawa and Ottawa is able to reach the cap floor

I like the trade for Jake Allen since he would be a better option as a starter than a 38 year old Anderson and would give Allen a fresh new start. The Backes trade makes no sense because Backes would only waive his NTC if he's traded to another contender, and you do realize who's the owner of the Sens right? I think the Sens should move on from Cody Ceci and Duclair is getting a little too much. But that's just my opinion but these are some interesting suggestions

Backes was a healthy scratch a couple of times this season and I don't think it will be better next one. That's why I targeting him because he can still play in a 3-4th line, got leadership and experience. I also could have targeted Callahan or Neal but Neal got too much term and Callahan would be put in LTIR and doesn't really help. Personally I would take Duclair or Ceci on my team but as I told there's in Ottawa right now and they need them to reach the cap floor. They could be moved at the trade deadline for some prospect of picks which is why I gave them 1 year contract only.
