Yeah, but Mtl needs on LD are now and Ghost could be a good fit right now. Price and Weber are getting older and the window of oppotunity is mid-short term. Romanov will be a great player in the NHL but his time frame is at least 3 or 4 years.

I would try to develop someone like mete, juulsen or brook. Dont see the point in regretting trading another mcdonagh

You don't like Gostisbehere. Tell about it. By the way Mcdonagh was traded for Gomez with his huge contract.

Not that I dont like him, he would be decent in a mtl jersey. I just dont like trading romanov, poehling, suzuki.
Maybe a move like
Drouin and a pick for ghost and a lower pick would be good for both sides

What I can see is that Philly fans don't want Drouin and his value is not that good. Mtl has to move on. Ghost is only 26 years old. This his why my take is somehow outside the box. Good to have your coments.

I know it is a tough call but Ghost will be an asset for many years and NHL ready today.

romanov will be nhl ready after 1 more year. better to trade picks and other assets, then to trade a potential stud

You've made the point, a potential stud or a NHL top 4 D-men. This is my point. In this trade there are also a pick and a prospect and Shaw. Looking forward for Philly fan comments.

I actually think you got a smart idea here, Shaw gives Philly immediate help up front and they get a solid prospect also.
Montreal gets their top 4 lefty, I honestly think Ghost is the ideal fit and also pick up a good prospect who will continue to help Suzuki's development.

With that being said I think the pick is overkill, no need to add the 2nd.

I don't like the Florida trade, Reim time has come and passed and just isn't anywhere near worth his salary. I also believe more could be had for taking a cap dump of Callahan's size.

There are other options. Trading romanov for Ghost doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense to acquire Ratcliffe either other than it would be cool to have him and Suzuki. I've thought about acquiring Ghost and Ratcliffe in a package a lot, but is just doesnt make sense. The main target is Ghost. Why complicate the trade by going for Ratcliffe? Why trade Romanov when the habs could trade one of Juulsen, Fluery, or Brook? Why do you think Drouin's value is low and Ghost's is not? They both had disappointing seasons, although I think it's pretty obvious that Ghost was the bigger disappointment last year after going from 65 to 37 pts.
