I don't think any one is doing the Habs the favor of taking those contracts.

Flynn can be buried in AHL full cap relief.
Emelin and Pleky are both 1 million overpaid, but there is certainly a market for both of them. People bash Plek but hes so consistent and in the selke conversation yearly. Emelin also gets ranted on, mostly because of his salary. He's a good D4 or D5. Provides a huge role, MAKING THE OTHER TEAM POOP THEIR PANTS TRYING TO CROSS OUR BLUE LINE. Both players can be moved. Make no mistake, Stamkos AND Okposo.... not a chance. Okposo shoud be our target and moving down the draft to get a rookie top 6 would be better than Lehkonen. Arturri will need a year maybe 2 in the AHL

Also there would be no room to sign Galchenyuk and Beaulieu and maybe Andrighetto next year

So then why would team take on the extra cash when the cap is shrinking. There are better assets through free agency than emelin and probably cost less with the cap going down, no one fears emelin they just skate around him. Wilson is also cheaper and better than plek.

Bergevin just signed Barberio. you can bet your a$$ Emelins contract is moved. Bob Mckenzie also has said that teams would be interested in his services. you clearly underrate the role he plays. Inconsistent, yes. Useless, no.

I agree about Emelin but not at all about Plekanec. Emelin isn't worth much. As long as we retain salary and only get a middling prospect in return, a deal is possible as he's not nearly as bad as some other options that have been thrown around in trades lately. he also only has 2 years left. Signing a UFA means having to sign them to long term contracts 3-4 years. Most of them are in the 30's where they are starting to decline. Emelin is under 30 and can still play albeit in a lesser role.

Plekanec on the other hand is the guy that will never get his fair due. I love how people throw troves of money at centers like Nielsen, Backes, etc when he's consistently outproduced them. Its ok though, go ahead and pay 6M for the next 5 years on guys that will be scoring 30 pts for you in coming years. Too bad you didn't just trade for the guy who only has 2 years left and shown to be a better producer than both those guys. In fact, i hope the Habs don't trade him. If we need cap space we can move other assets to do so. if we're trading so low on Pleky, there's no point in trading him.
