San Jose 2020 Vision without Pavs

Created by: bunnymcfoo
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: May 13, 2019
Published: May 20, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Pavelski isn't coming back from this post season and I'm gutted over it.

I also think EK65 has no intention of signing with San Jose, so why not sign someone else with an obscene pricetag?

The kids in the long term IR aren't really there for that - they're alternate players who could slot into the 4th or 3rd lines depending on how training camp goes.

Trades
1.
SJS
I picked the Ducks because they were literally the first team on the list - I don't think he goes there but it doesn't really matter too much to me where he does go. :/
    ANA
    1. Dell, Aaron
    Additional Details:
I've given this a lot of consideration and have come to the conclusion that I don't know where he goes, but Dell still has a lot of promise and someone will want him. I'd like to see a pick (maybe a 5th or 6th?) come back, but I'd also be pretty happy with a decent prospect or two.
    2.
    SJS
    1. 2020 3rd round pick (CBJ)
    OTT
    1. Braun, Justin
    Additional Details:
I still think Braun would be a good vet to have in the Ottawa locker room for the last year of his contract. They're going to need to meet the floor and he's a nice, steady, hardworking vet to set an example for all the very young rookies they've got
    3.
    SJS
    1. 2020 5th round pick (NJD)
    NJD
    1. Karlsson, Melker
    Additional Details:
Melker is the definition of "solid" - he's never going to be a rock star, but he'll do well on your PK, he's not going to take penalties, he'll show up every night and play his heart out. I think he'd do well with the Devils, but I honestly think he'd play well literally anywhere.

LaBanc May ask for 4.5x3 but other than that this team’s top6 is dirty

One of the biggest mistakes here is signing gardnier to 7M contract. If you sign him he has to play left side cause he is terrible a RHD if he played there. It would be Vlasic-burns Gardnier- whoever but I personally think Braun would be good as a partner with him cause he jumps in the play a lot so you would need a stay home man and he is

You think? I mean, I'm 100% over Braun right now (two goals for the Blues off of him AND he took Donskoi out yesterday) so that means we'd need another RD. I'm 100% open to suggestion, I just know that when Gardiner was out the Leafs suuuuuffered without him and that's a high recommendation in my book. (WRT sides, I would hate very much to give up Dillon, Vlasic isn't going anywhere, and if Simek comes back the way he's expected to then he's the best Wookiee Whisperer we've had yet sooooo he goes with Burns.)

Doug Wilson is really really big on doing 2 year bridge deals and I'm operating under the assumption that he'd want to do the same with Labanc - and the later doesn't have arbitration rights yet so short an offer sheet I think that he'd take it. (I think he's worth 4.5x3, in which case I'd rather lose Sorensen than Labanc.)

Thats because Dermott was out also before we traded for Muzzin. I'm not saying he's bad but watching the leafs forever now and if want him to play RHD it really isn't a good idea. Braun would be a good player to be with him. Also without him I personally don';t think that's a Stanley cup winner defense and we all know defense wins cups

Signing a left-handed overrated defenseman to a massive contract to play bottom six on a side that he is absolute garbage at.

    Goodbye Doug Wilson!

A much cheaper right-handed shutdown defenseman as opposed to point scoring.

If you were able to get him at a cheap price, a 1-year deal for Brayden Coburn wouldn't be the worst thing that ever happened. On the left Jakey's probably better but on the right he's looked abysmal and saving the cash would be nice. Younger and honestly more talented options include Adam McQuaid for some physicality if you can snag him at cheap, Anton Stralman, although definetly not younger like McQuaid, if signed to a short term deal could add some nice shut-down defense to your blue line.

Of course, all of these options are paltry in comparison to giving that Gardiner money (along with some other capological moves) to Karlsson. But if you absolutely have to, save the cap for rookie and UFA signings in the next few years and sign some cheaper options.

Believe me, I'd be happy to keep Karlsson - I just don't think he wants to stay. frown

Thanks for your insights on the D - I truly do appreciate you taking the time.
