Trades
1.
WSH
  1. 2019 3rd round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Burakovsky, André [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Realistically, this could be for any team that has sufficient cap space and is looking to add depth scoring. These teams wouldn't mind the $3.25M QO for Burakovsky, and could be a really low risk, high reward signing/trade. I don't think Bura could net a higher pick than a 3rd.
2.
WSH
  1. Honka, Julius [RFA Rights]
  2. Janmark, Mattias [RFA Rights]
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
This trade makes a ton of sense for WSH. You get a good third liner in Janmark, as well as a cheaper RHD to replace Niskanen. Honka had his issues in DAL, but Reirden and company turned Kempny into what seemed like a fringe NHLer into a legitimate top 4 caliber defenseman.
DAL
  1. Niskanen, Matt
Additional Details:
Niskanen can still play at a top 4 level. His cap hit is just too high for the Caps right now, who are right at the upper limit of the cap, especially with the bonus overage hit.
3.
WSH
  1. 2019 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Priskie was a Hobey Baker finalist, and is a RHD. Toronto makes sense here, since they can get him on the cheap, and could probably make the NHL team in the next year or so.
TOR
  1. Priskie, Chase [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Just get any value you can for a pending college free agent.
4.
WSH
  1. Thompson, Tage
  2. 2020 1st round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Conditions:

If BUF makes the playoffs with Holtby playing 41 games, the Capitals receive BUF's 2020 2nd.
BUF
  1. Holtby, Braden
Additional Details:
***Caps only make this trade if they feel that Samsonov is absolutely ready for NHL work***

Boyle a bad move, slow as molasses. Sign Hagelin for the same money. Keep Holtby. Bad gamble. Samsonov needs another year.

I was thinking Boyle because he's effective at FOs, something the Caps were last in the league in. I'd definitely take Hags at that price point, though. As for Holtby, I had put in the trade details that the main caveat would need to be that the Samsonov would have to be ready for NHL work. I agree, we should probably keep him this year, but if you're trying to get some high level assets back, he's the guy to move.
