I think Vanek could be a great UFA for Edmonton to sign

Instead of burying 12 million in the minors how about finding a real starting goalie with some of that money.

Either you have a financial interest in the team or you’re Darryl Katz. Why are you being so cheap? Edmonton doesn’t have to make a huge splash signing a big UFA, but there are definitely better options than taking other team’s castaways.

A lot of teams are facing a cap crunch at the moment so they will be shipping off talent that they actually want to keep but can’t afford. Tyler Johnson is one name that can play in your top 6. Even a Connor Brown for your bottom 6 with an expiring contract. It feel like this is the perfect year for a team like Edmonton. They have the cornerstones upfront, they just need complementing pieces.

The reason why i left 6 million in cap is because they'll need wiggle room for Nurse, Puljujarvi, Bear, Jones, etc. although i do sympathize that they need a goalie, I figured Stolarz needs a real NHL chance and that Koskinen might be better then previously thought behind a less dysfunctional team. trading for a goalie is something i think happens during the season for the oilers.
