Awful take. Shattenkirk is a 3-4 NHL Dman. Especially if salary is retained teams will take that for another 2 seasons. This is not a Lucic albatross contract.

Shattenkirk is an alright 2nd pair defenseman. Hes not going to play lock down defense that's not his job. Hes been playing banged up and surrounded by a bottom 5 D corps in the league since hes gotten here. He was NYR best dman last year in almost every category
