Please don't give the Leafs another player that Babcock will play more minutes than John Tavares in game 7

Green will not wave for Winnipeg, and don't Jets take that offer. You are getting hosed by Toronto. So we eat 6.25 million in cap for a 2nd round pick and we trade our best faceoff man. I could see that deal with Daley but not adding Glendening.
Not interested in Kesler deal as we would have to be way below cap to then put on LTIR and then sign RFA's next year.

No ..LTIR is maximized when your cap is maxed ..to use the full relief at start of season....not below it....wings max cap..then put Z Franzen and "Kessler" on LTIR to get the full savings ..someone misinformed you how it works

I understand how it works, but to maximize the LTIR you would want to be as near the cap with those 3 players to get the most bang for your buck. They could exceed the cap by 10% before the start of the season which would be 8 million or so, that means you would use 2 of the three contract to get to the cap floor. wasting cap dollars on LTIR. It is in essence what the Wings did this year, They exceeded the cap and before the the 1st day of the season they used one of 3 contracts to get them to the cap.

I guess the best way to figure it is to go over the cap closet to the cap hit of the player you want to use to take you to the top of the cap and then use the 2nd and 3rd LTIR cap hits to take you down form the top of the cap.

Cap is 86,000,000

You exceed the cap by 6 million with 26 players including Kessler, Zetterberg and Fransen in lineup day before final roster is due. You use Zettereberg's salary to get you from 92 million to 86 million. You lose out on 83,333 in Zetterberg's salary for LTIR, but you have Fransen's and Kesslers's salary to take you down from there.

The problem is what you need to spend to sign Mantha, Bertuzzi, and any free agents. That figure needs to be as close but not over any one or combination of two of the players you want to put on LTIR as possible with out going over. If they went over by 7 million then you would need to use Zetterberg's and Fransen's contract and you would lose out on using 3 million of LTIR due to you used tha contract to get you to the top of the cap.

Green has a no trade clause until Feb 1, 2020, so unless you are moving him at the deadline: he can say no. So there goes that deal.

Buyout Marleau after acquiring him? Did you even look at the Wings salary needs come July 2020?
AA, Mantha, Lil Bert, a new top 3 d-man (Green's gone), in fact 4 of the 7 d-men on the roster, a #1 goalie, Svechnikov's bridge deal, and Hirose all need new contracts. And don't spend too much because the backup goalie, Cholowski, and Hronek are the year after that.

There is no way the Wings spread out Marleau's cap hit but beyond that there is no way Marleau agrees to a trade in the first place.

But I can see both the Kesler and Callahan trades as possible.
