Valeri Nichushkin acquired by Rangers. Stars losing Russell, Oduya getting older. Staal had an off year. Whole defensive system they were playing was a joke thanks to the coach. Rangers eat 2 mill to bring in a young prospect.

      1. Klein, Kevin
      2. Stepan, Derek
      Additional Details:
Rangers trade a 25 year old center who is still 3 years from hitting his prime. He is already a 55 pt guy. He also is a great 5v5 point producer. Plays in all three zones. When the Nucks had Kes they wanted a kings ransom for him. Stepan is the best center option out there that is available aside from Stamkos. Klein is also a very cheap top four d that will fit in nicely with Minn.

Anthony, not going to rip but.......No team has to reach the cap floor by trading for players they don't really want. Glass could have got on waivers last year....no takers. If, the Canes have to spend money they just overspend if necessary for players they want. Nash, hard to believe any team would think his playing ability is worth 6.3m a season and too give up two great assets for him. Preds can easily spend 6.3m on UFA forward and keep their assets. I can only assume that Minni outrage.....Minni can find an equal centre that is paid less than 6.5m and won't have to give the equivalent of two rounders.

      Hmm a 25yr old 1/2C and a 31 yo RHD $9.6m in salary for a 22yo top pairing D, last year's 1st and this year's 1st $4.1m in salary. Wild take on $5.5m in cap (they don't have).

If the Wild are going to overpay like that for Stepan, might as well overpay for someone who's not available and make them available. Very few players are truly untouchable.

To counter the point in the kings ransom. Jones for Johansen. 1 for 1 swap. Stepan's salary brings his value down to the Wild, Brodin's salary brings his value up to the NYR. Both teams are in caphell.

The only reason Stepan is available is because he'll be a salary dump who has higher value than the rest of the NYR's bloated contracts, Wild have them too (Pomenville/Vanek).
