Big Vegas Move solves the whole Offseason

Created by: HarterCart79
Team: 2019-20 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: May 27, 2019
Published: May 29, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Big trade with Vegas. They are up against the cap, they need some help getting under it just to resign any of their UFA/RFA talent. Their farm system is slop and they just sent their best prospect away for Stone. Flyers send them a draft pick, cheap young talent, and some more futures for guys who they can get off the books, and solves all of our offseason needs in 1 trade.

Preferably I would want someone to slot into that 3rd RW spot with Hartman on a really good 4th line, but maybe he takes a step this year, and Patrick playing 3C, they'll get some favorable matchups and be an OK third line.

no way Vegas trades Karlsson, you would have to include way more for him for them to even negotiate

Way more like instead of the 3rd rounder, say Isaac Ratcliffe? You're not getting Frost or Farabee

Vegas signed every player and their brother last year except Karlsson .. I dont understand why they did that except the rational reason is to trade Karlaason as there is NO way to sign him .. I dont know players above to so a trade like this?.. I think Vegas has to or they in bad LT contract hell without a farm system.. yikes

Instead of the 3rd rounder in the Vegas trade, I would probably add a guy like O'Brien, a guy who may or may not pan out, and say Wade Allison or Matthew Strome. That way the Flyers keep Frost, Farabee, and Ratcliffe (who I think could be a legit top line player in the NHL given his size and skill set).

We’re talking about a legit top 6 center who’s only 26 years old, a guy who had 29 goals the last season he was healthy, and a cheap/solid option for our top 4. You’d need to be sending back at least 1 solid piece that’s ready to play in the NHL now

Yea you would, if they hadn't allotted all their cap to paying Stone and Patches. How they went from $0 to already over the cap in 2 seasons is crazy, and its time to pay the piper. They're not giving players away, but they are not in a position of leverage and GMs will take advantage of getting some good players for less than market value. Just look at what guys fetched who teams KNEW were not coming back. Stone, Duchene, EK, etc. Not a ton of offers that would blow anyone away.

They did that because they really had know idea if they had a top league center capable of 40-50 goals a year (scored 43 that year and no more than 6 any other year) and in that 43 shot at an unrealistic 23% shooting %. They wanted to see where he really landed and this past year is what most experts thought he would - 25-30 goal scorer 60 pt 1st line two way center. He will sign with the team somewhere around 5 x6.4m , he has a clearer analytic standing.

1st line 200 ft 1st line center on a contending team is all but untradable. It would be like asking Boston what do you want for Bergeron?

We offered Karlsson a long term deal last year, but count off 43 goals he was hoping for more than the 6x6 reportedly offered. He came back down to earth. There’s no way vegas would EVER make this trade lol
