The Future is NOW

Created by: milehigh11
Team: 2019-20 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: May 30, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Time for Sakic to be bold and aggressive.

Offersheet Marner: yeah it wont happen but could and the Avs are the perfect team to do it. Young and on the rise with 35 million in cap room and a need for a line driver.

RNH would give them a stop gap for 2 years at the 2nd line center spot.

4th OA : I am on the Draft Byram team if he is there. He would be our Left Handed version of Makar with more size. we dont have any top notch LHD in the system.

If he is taken I could see us going: Turcotte, Cozens, Dach or even the Russian Pod since we would not need him for the next couple years.

At 16th: I hope they go for Knight. Grubauer ended his season on a high note after struggling all season. Knight is the best goalie prospect to come along in quite some time. And its not like Grub is young he will be 28 when the next season starts. His backup Francouz is already 28. Dont really have any top goalie prospects in the system.

The future is bright.. This is all wishful thinking. Cant wait for the offseason

First of all, the Leafs definitely match that Marner contract.

I'm curious to hear how you would feel about a trade centered around Kadri and Barrie. Would either side need to add anything or would you do a 1-for-1??

No way in hell they match $14 x 5. That's more than McDavid!

They gladly take the four 1st round picks.

Technically true, but my point about taking the picks still stands.

When the term is greater than 5, offer sheet compensation is determined by dividing the value of the contract by a max of 5 years. In this case, the threshold for 4 first rounds is met.

Ya I get that they would get the 4 first rounders but if that is the contract Marner accepts, the Leafs will match it

Would the Leafs match it or take the cap space and 4 first rounders? Tough call. Kadri & Barrie, the Leafs need to add. Neither trade is all that bad. Can't see Nemeth taking the pay cut. Otherwise not bad.

I’d do Barrie for Nuge 1-1. Leafs would need to add if Kadri and Barrie are the centerpieces. Nuge>Kadri.

I’d be more interested in a Nylander for Barrie swap. Barrie is worth a fringe first line forward. Nuge and Nylander meet those marks, while Kadri is more of a “solid” 2C in my mind.
