Why are you paying a top 4 D prospect and a 2nd to get rid of Horton, when you could just put him on LTIR like you have for the last 3 years?. He doesn't affect the cap.

Actually, I can see Vancouver giving us a reasonable return on Zaitsev. Have you looked at the right side of their defense carefully? Other than Troy Stecher, who now has three full seasons under his belt, here's who they have: the oft-injured Chris Tanev, who since he became a regular in 2013 has never played 70 games in a season and whose last three years are 53, 42 and 55 games, and is signed for only one more season; 31-year-old Alex Biega; and Luke Schenn, who was deemed expendable by Anaheim. Zaitsev would be an upgrade for the Canucks no matter who he replaced.

FYI, the leafs can put Horton on LTIR during the summer to get under the cap. They don't need to shoot themselves in the face by trading away Liljegren for nothing.

Not a leafs fan but kadri is isn’t worthy to avs unless you make it enticing, they are a fast team and have depth, basically just a cap dump as I said, can’t ask too much value if your dumping cap

That’s why I placed him with the canucks I think he’d fit well I just don’t expected low return as the canucks are high gaudette I think, and they got a lot of young talent coming up.

Kapanen was the main part of the trade and just getting rid of kadri made sense for them to cap wise if they want to keep Nylander who should be traded realistically imo
