What the heck is with the Gaborik deal?????????? His cap hit goes for like 25 years...better hope he never plays again and retires. That is a terrible deal for CALG.

Pittsburgh won't take on kindl in a fleury trade, they're trying to free up cap space.

I don't see why not. 2.04 mil cap hit for one year and done. With Fleury running off, there is no risk. And this won't be a problem come next off-season when RFA contracts of Sheary/Murray/Dumo/Pouliot kick in.

Yeah the way PIT's cap is, they can get a bad contract back for Fleury for 1-2 years and still have basically the same team as this year - they don't have any important FAs to sign. It's a reasonable deal for Fleury although Flames could just as easily just put Engelland in it instead. Don't really see Florida making the Wideman deal.

Can't see Flames trading for Gaborik either. Aside from fact it's a very risky contract, Kings become thinner at wing if both him and Lucic go.

I give you a point for imagination and for actually having a reasonable Fleury deal unlike some people on here who want to trade a 1st, Backlund and/or Kylington...

I like what you're thinking with Wideman to Florida. That could be a landing spot, and Florida has been a good trade parter with us before.

Some thinking around the Gaborik deal had me considering the difficulty we had in finding a 3rd person for the Gaudreau-Monahan duo; did think of his history with significant injuries but couldn't ignore the reality of when he is healthy the kind of production that's possible.

Wideman is interesting, to me, because the main reason he's on our 3rd pairing is that Brodie and Hamilton keep progressing by leaps and bounds which pushes him down the roster; it's not necessarily because he's a bad D-man. Can't ignore the possession numbers but with the right stay-at-home partner he could fit in a top-4 somewhere. Might be good for Kulikov and Ekblad to have a veteran presence as well.

Looks like the Panthers are after Yandle...

Back to the drawing board ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
