STOP

TRAIDING

ELLIS

Srsly, it will be PK, not Ellis. I do not know universe, where Poile will trade him, instead of PK this year.
Also looks like Poile won't trade Tolvy.
Mb it is fair price, but if Hall re-sign with Preds. Else-no thanks.
My idea: PK+Trenin+2020 2nd+2021 2nd, where: if Preds win WCF - 2nd round pick become 1st.

It's close though, that Ellis contract is too long.

Looks like you, and so many people forgot, he has only one full season (15-16).
He is an elite player, but also break like glass.

Ellis? 4 of the last 6 seasons he's played at least 70 games. Yes he gets a little dinged up but that's hardly injury prone.

Would I have long term concerns about his knee? Probably, but not any more than I would about PK's back.

While I agree we're more likely to see Subban on the move than Ellis, he's not untouchable. I'm going to try and read between the lines here and say you don't want to trade Ellis because you think he is a better player, better value, or something similar. That's the exact reason why other teams would want him instead of PK. Swapping in Ellis instead of PK is something that may get ultimately get a deal done.

You're not far off although it may be the opposite. David Poile may decide that since PK is the better player (which he is) that he'd be more willing to move Ellis. Granted, the optics of moving Ellis before his team-friendly extension (below market value, no trade protection) kicks in would not be very good.

Absolutely agreed. It's ultimately Poile's job to put the best possible team he can on the ice, so he'll weigh all options—including a damage assessment of dishing someone before their new extension kicks in. I'm curious to see how this summer plays out.

Personally, I'd rather hold onto Subban, but I understand it takes two to tango. Some teams will prefer PK while others would want Ellis. Until then, I'll be here with the popcorn.
